DALE – For the seventh consecutive year, the Lady Pirates return to the state tournament.

Dale punched their ticket with an 18-4 victory over Stroud Friday afternoon.

“I told the girls it's a good time to get hot and we have been swinging the bats pretty well and that's good to see with the state tournament on Thursday,” Coach Andy Powell said.

The Lady Pirates jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage. Delanie Manning brought Lacey Savage home on a single. Rylie Premo scored Anna Hester on a triple. Emmy Idleman brought Premo home on a sacrifice fly. Skyler Thompson scored Sara Lock with an RBI single. Sydney Griggs followed up with a two-RBI single.

Manning started the scoring streak in the third inning with a two-run home run. The Lady Pirates followed up with seven more runs in the inning.

Stroud scored all of their runs in the fourth inning.

Dale piled on two more runs in the top of the fifth when Danyn Lang recorded an RBI double and Savage brought her home on a single.

Dale will play in the Class 2A state tournament starting Thursday. The tournament will be held at FireLake ballfields in Shawnee.
