NEWCASTLE – The Lady Pirates were unable to put any runs on the board against arguably one of the best pitchers in the state, losing 2-0 against Newcastle Monday evening.

Jobey Savage was the only Lady Pirate with a hit in the game. She had a double in the top of the seventh inning.

Dale batters managed to walk seven times and were hit by a pitch twice. The downside was Dale left eight runners on base.

MacKenzie Wagoner pitched a complete game for Newcastle and struck out 10 Lady Pirates.

Delanie Manning pitched four innings and gave up one earned run. Rylie Premo pitched two innings and surrendered one run.

Dale (32-5) will play in the Class 2A state tournament at FireLake Thursday with a first round clash against Colbert (17-4). They are scheduled for an 11 a.m. start on field two.
