Shawnee City Commissioners in executive session discussed employment options as it seeks a replacement for Municipal Judge Randall Wiley; he informed the board in August his intent to retire from the bench effective Nov. 30.

After 40 minutes behind closed doors, the board announced its intent to form a subcommittee to help in the search to fill the position.

“I move that the mayor appoint a subcommittee of three commissioners to interview applicants,” Vice Mayor James Harrod said at the meeting.

The board unanimously agreed.

Mayor Richard Finley appointed City Commissioners Darren Rutherford, Ed Bolt and Mark Sehorn to the subcommittee.
