Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies and Shawnee SWAT worked a standoff scene in a rural area south of Tecumseh Thursday night, where a suspect was taken into custody just after 11 p.m.
Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer said what began with an attempt to serve an arrest warrant earlier in the day turned into a suspect barricading himself inside a bedroom of a home.
Deputies were involved in ongoing negotiations with the suspect for quite some time until Shawnee SWAT went in through a window and arrested Jason L. Walker, 41, Palmer said.
A $100,000 arrest warrant was issued for Walker after he failed to appear in court on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and interfering with a 911 call.
Palmer thanked Shawnee SWAT for their assistance and said this was a great example of agencies working together.
The Red Cross also was on the scene, Palmer said, providing snacks and water for those working the incident.
