TECUMSEH — Tecumseh put up a good fight against Bethany Friday night, but the Broncos were just a little too strong for the Savages in a 38-20 District 4A-2 win.
Bethany’s only loss is to district leader Tuttle. They got off to a quick start against Tecumseh on senior night.
Leading 13-6 after a 13-yard touchdown run by Tecumseh’s Raymond Thomas, Bethany had to score three times to get seven points. They had two scores called back by penalty before scoring with 13 seconds left in the first half. Bethany led 21-6 at the intermission.
The Broncos extended the lead 35-6 at the end of the third quarter and took a 38-6 lead early in the final frame.
The Savages bounced back with some nice runs by Hunter Boyd and Thomas, who scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run. The extra--point try was blocked and Tecumseh trailed 38-12.
After Bethany went 3-and-out, Will Hilton dropped back and hit Dylan Morris for a 34-yard touchdown on first down. Jaylen Walker took the snap from the Wildcat formation on the two-point conversion play and Ed Carey pulled in a great catch to make the score 38-20.
The Savages got a fumble recovery late in the game but they weren’t able to score.
Tecumseh finishes the season with two road games.
On Friday, Oct. 26, the Savages travel to McLoud before finishing their season Nov. 3 at Madill.
