Casting is complete and rehearsals are well underway for Shawnee Little Theatre’s November production of “Peter and the Starcatcher”.

Tony-winning “Peter and the Starcatcher” upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels, the play will be presented November 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and November 11 at 2 p.m. at the community theatre, 1829 N. Airport Dr.

Directed by Loree Hopkins with Musical Direction by Nicki Sherman, the play with music provides a backstory for Peter Pan, Mrs. Darling, Tinker Bell and Hook serving as a prequel to the Peter Pan story.

Featuring a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters, the play uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life. The cast includes Michael Schwab as Boy/Peter; Martin Kamm as Prentiss; Adam Montgomery as Ted; Randy Lauderdale as Lord Aster; Harper Morris as Molly Aster; Brian Wilson as Mrs. Bumbrake; Jonathan Mayfield as Captain Scott/Fighting Prawn; Josh Thomas as Grempkin/Mack/Sanchez; Troy Montgomery as Captain Slank/Hawking Clam; Tom Dicken as Alf; Trevor Mastin as Black Stache; Bruce Fry as Smee and Cody Bennett as Greggors/Teacher.

Those doubling as mermaids are Trevor Mastin, Harper Morris, Josh Thomas, Randy Lauderdale, Troy Montgomery, Brian Wilson, Tom Dicken, Cody Bennett and Jonathan Mayfield.

Playing mollusks are Randy Lauderdale, Harper Morris, Brian Wilson, Jonathan Mayfield, Josh Thomas, Troy Montgomery, Tom Dicken, Trevor Mastin and Bruce Fry.

Tickets will go on sale online at Tuesday, October 30. The SLT box office will open for telephone and walk up ticket reservations beginning Monday, November 5 from 5:30pm until 7:30pm Monday through Saturday. Box office phone is (405) 275-2805.

Following “Peter and the Starcatcher” SLT will produce “Sweeney Todd” in February 2019 and “Noises Off” in April 2019.
