The American Red Cross is sounding the alarm about home fire safety and saving lives. 

The American Red Cross South Central and Southeast Chapter in partnership with the Shawnee Fire Department will be doing the Shawnee Scorch this Saturday, October 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The group will be doing free smoke alarm installs on the west side of Shawnee, basically between U.S. 177 and Kickapoo, in the area from Independence down to Highland. For more information or to find out about getting a smoke alarm, go to:
