HENRYETTA — Class 2A fifth-ranked Meeker, warming up for the playoffs, destroyed Henryetta 57-0 Friday night to conclude the regular season.
Meeker, 9-1 overall, finished second in District 2A-2 at 6-1. Third-ranked Jones captured the district crown.
Meeker likely will entertain Alva, representing District 2A-1, Friday in the first round of the postseason.
The 57-0 margin would have been much greater had the clock not been run almost continuously from the second quarter on.
Meeker led 22-0 after one quarter, thanks to sophomore Caden Wolford’s touchdown runs of 1, 28 and 23 yards. Wolford added a 42-yard TD scamper in the second quarter as Meeker extended its lead to 42-0 by halftime.
The Bulldogs added 15 points in the third quarter.
Jarrett Marks caught touchdown passes of 74 and 60 yards from fellow junior Jacob Martin. Martin also had a 1-yard TD run.
Freshman Zach Cook concluded the scoring with a 28-yard run.
Meeker attempted 2-point conversions after its first seven touchdowns before sophomore Michael Jessup booted an extra point.
Wolford was Meeker’s leading rusher with 128 yards on 12 attempts. The Bulldogs rolled up 306 ground yards on 25 attempts. Wolford has accumulated 1,325 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns.
Xavier Masquas caught two passes for 76 yards, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. Dawson Stanberry intercepted two passes.
Cook and Wolford notched six tackles apiece.
