Tecumseh High School Senior Baylee Kennedy, one of the two October finalists, was named the Shawnee News-Star and Patriot Auto Group Student of the Month for 2018-19.
She has been selected as one of The Shawnee News-Star and Patriot Auto Group Students of the Month for October and is now in the running to win a car.
Tecumseh High School Principal Randy Dilbeck said Kennedy is an outstanding young lady.
Kennedy has logged more than 100 hours in volunteer service to the school and community, such as volunteering at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Child Development Center and Tecumseh Early Childhood Center, helping organize the Frontier Days Parade lineup, working on Homecoming decorations and helping organize the Veterans Day Assembly, Jennifer McKnight said.
“Baylee is a kind-hearted student always willing to give a hand to a fellow student,” Alicia Peak said. “She is a hard worker who goes the extra mile.”
Lori Wilsie said Kennedy also is a great sportsman.
“Because of her citizenship and integrity on the playing field, she has earned the admiration of players, coaches, officials and opponents,” Wilsie said. “She is a tremendous example of the well-rounded high school student of the 21st century.”
Kennedy said she is planning a career as an occupational therapist.
