An American Flag retirement ceremony will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Veterans Park in Shawnee.

The ceremony, aimed at teaching youth about the proper way to retire an American Flag, will include a welcome by James Comrey and Benediction by Paul Kelly.

The Gordon Cooper Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol will serve as Honor Guard and Troop 485 will be involved in the Flag Retirement Ceremony.

Other participants will include the VFW, American Legion, DAV, Shawnee police and fire, REACT, Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office, CPN, Sac and Fox, Boy Scout Troops, Cub packs, Girl Scouts and Brownies.

As part of Veterans Day this weekend, an observance ceremony is also being planned 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Veterans Memorial in Woodland Veterans Park.
