After a hard fought battle with breast cancer, Mary L. Young has gone to be with her Abba Father on Nov. 3, 2018, at the age of 73. She was surrounded by her loving family as she finished the race marked out for her and stepped into her victory dance in her brand new body.

Rarely seen without a smile, Mary embraced life and people passionately. She enjoyed expressing her passions through made-from-scratch meals and treats, keeping and creating family traditions, celebrating in praise and worship dance, and painting the beauty of nature and scripture onto a canvas.

Her joy for travel took her through the USA, back-packing through Europe, teaching English as a second language in China, learning Spanish in Costa Rica and volunteering in Israel. She enjoyed the views, the sounds, the tastes, the faces and the beach, everywhere.

Mary loved raising her family, teaching and volunteering in many capacities, and learning of all kinds — especially earning a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Eduction after the children all left home.

Of all her joys and discoveries, none surpassed the love she had for her Abba Father. She was also passionate about discovering, practicing and sharing God’s feasts and festivals with everyone. Delighting in the Sabbath was an enormous pleasure to Mary, and the day that she finally received her in-person embrace from the Father.

Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim Young, three children; Angel and Doug Darner, Sheree and Scott DeYoung, Chris and Amy Young, four grandchildren; Joshua and Alyssa Darner, Emily and Sarah Young, four siblings; Wanda Burford, Delwyn Herzel, Loretta Smith, Larry Herzel, and many loving family and friends.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Sunday, Nov. 25, 10:00 a.m. at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel, Bella Vista, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to Bridges for Peace, P.O. Box 410037 Melbourne, FL 32941 or Circle of Life Hospice Home Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712.
