At Tecumseh's city council meeting Monday, Avedis Foundation President and CEO Kathy Laster presented a $100,000 grant check to be used toward improving the Charles Martin Park playground.

The goal for the Charles Martin Park Playground, at the corner of 3rd and Elm Street in Tecumseh, is to make the park very attractive to all citizens to use for picnics, walking, visiting, relaxing and being outdoors.

“The Avedis Foundation is excited to partner with the City of Tecumseh on the Charles Martin Park Project,” Laster said. “The upgrade to this park will provide a very nice place for families and children to benefit by being outside and spending time together outdoors.” The City of Tecumseh is doing a great job of prioritizing and creating healthy outdoor space for its citizens, she said.

To support the perpetual mission of this organization — both now and in the future — donations can be made directly to the City of Tecumseh.

Charles Martin Park was established in the late '70s to early '80s. The park includes a walking trail, basketball court and gazebo.

“Now with the help of the Avedis Foundation a much-needed upgrade to the playground equipment will enhance this family friendly neighborhood area,” Tecumseh City Manager Jimmy Stokes said.
