Jones Theatres, Inc. and KGFF Radio are joining forces for the 32nd year on Dec. 6 to present the annual "Cans Film Festival," a special movie showing before the Downtown Christmas parade to collect canned goods for the Salvation Army holiday food distribution.

The Hornbeck Theatre, 125 N. Bell in Downtown Shawnee, will again host the event presenting the animated family favorite “Sherlock Gnomes," rated PG. Admission is two cans of non-perishable food per person up to the theater's 500-seat capacity.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, theater doors will open at 3:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 4:30 p.m. The movie will be over in time for the parade, which begins at 7 p.m.

Each year the theater hosts the event with KGFF to boost the Salvation Army holiday food collections and provide another event to draw people downtown before the parade.

Entertaining Shawnee families since 1914, Jones Theatres operates the Hornbeck & Penthouse Twin Theatre downtown as well as the Cinema Centre 8 on North Harrison and Movies Six at Shawnee Mall in a joint venture with international cinema chain American Multi Cinemas.
