Bethel High School senior Michael St. Clair, one of the two November finalists, was named The Shawnee News-Star and Patriot Auto Group Student of the Month for 2018-19.

Because of his leadership skills, academic excellence and hard work, St. Clair is now a finalist for a chance to win a car.

Bethel English teacher Brianne Johnson said he is one of the most hard-working, well-rounded students she has ever taught.

“Michael is diligent and respectful, and his quick wit and sense of humor often bring laughter and smiles to our classroom,” she said.

In his years at Bethel High School, St. Clair has not only been a standout in the FFA program, Johnson said he has also maintained a high GPA and challenged himself by taking some of the district's toughest classes.

St. Clair spends time running a booth at the local farmers market and showing animals in FFA.

He also earns money raising more than 150 chickens and maintaining a large vegetable garden.

“In addition to his FFA projects, Michael is working on earning his Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts,” Johnson said. “To help him earn this top ranking, Michael built a beautiful wooden backdrop for a local church, providing all the materials and his labor free of charge.”
