SHAWNEE—The McLoud Lady Redskins attempt of a comeback fell short Thursday night as they fell to the Lindsay Leopardettes 54-48 in the first round of the Bison Invitational Tournament.

Lindsay caught fire from the three-point line early and put McLoud in a deep hole.

The Leopardettes’ first seven hoops were from beyond the arc and when that dust had settled they held a 21-8 lead with 6:35 left in the first half.

Nicole Horner hit five of the seven treys in that stretch run.

McLoud trailed 28-19 at the half, but climbed back to within a deuce late in the third.

Desira Jones stole a pass then went coast to coast for the hoop to cut the deficit to 34-32 with 2:23 left in the third.

The Lady Redskins clawed their way to a 38-38 tie on a Cheyenne Banks’ layup with 7:18 left in the game. That was the end of the road for McLoud as Lindsay went on a 10-4 run to take a 46-40 lead with half of the fourth quarter left.

The Leopardettes were led in scoring by Maegan Bartee. She scored 21 points and Horner added 16, including her three treys.

The Lady Redskins were led by Callie Cardin, who hit for a dozen. Lexi Boyer and Karlie Norwood each had eight.

The Lady Redskins will try to get back in the win column this morning at 9 o’clock. They will face the Dale JV, who fell to Elgin in the first round.
