SHAWNEE—The McLoud Redskins took care of business Thursday night as they defeated the Meeker Bulldogs, 66-46, in the first round of the Bison Invitational Tournament.

McLoud had beaten the Bulldogs by three points in the season opener.

The game was close for a half before the McLoud defense took the game over. It was tied 14-14 after the first quarter, and the Redskins held a 36-30 halftime advantage. Brandon Howard provided a second-quarter spark, scoring six straight points to give the Redskins a little breathing room.

The pace slowed down in the third and Meeker went cold but had some help from the pesky McLoud defense. McLoud led 48-37 after the third, holding Meeker to just three field goals in the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Redskins pull away behind the hot hand of Brandon Vinson. Vinson hit two treys in the final frame and scored eight of his 13 points in the quarter.

Vinson was joined in the 13-point club by teammates Tristian Crook and Logan Wahpekeche. Brandon Howard scored eight for McLoud.
