BETHEL ACRES — Anthony Billy tallied 15 points and Jayden Shafer added 14 Thursday as Tecumseh nipped Chandler 55-53 in first-round action of the First United Bank Classic at Bethel High School.
The game was close throughout with Chandler missing a half-court shot at the final buzzer.
Shafer and Ty Shields were both 2 of 5 from 3-point range. Tecumseh was 4 of 15 overall on its 3-point attempts.
Shields finished with eight points.
Hutch Underwood and Tanner German produced 25 points each for Chandler. Only two other Lions scored.
The Lions didn’t have a 3-point field goal while Tecumseh was 4 of 15.
Tecumseh, 3-1, advances to tonight’s 4:30 semifinals against the Bethany-Lone Grove victor.
Chandler will play at 2:30 today against the Bethany-Lone Grove loser.
