New Year's Eve is just a few weeks away and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office Task Force is already planning for a county-wide 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' enforcement campaign.

The special emphasis enforcement will begin the afternoon of Dec. 31, 2018, and continue into the overnight hours on Jan. 1, 2019.

Project Director Deputy James Caskey said the effort is to remove intoxicated and impaired drivers from the roadways in Pottawatomie County.

Law enforcement agencies within Pottawatomie County and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are part of the operation.

Participating officers will meet prior to the enforcement to hear a speaker from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, which will followed by information to officers for the enforcement, including driver checkpoints, roving patrols and use of the ENDUI van and intoxilyzer.

Watch for updates.
