Bill Arno Tischer, age 88, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center Sulphur, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his sister Betty Adams of Midland, Texas, son, Mike Tischer and wife Susan of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; daughter Dana Tischer and partner Laurie Hestand of Gordonville, Texas; two grandchildren, Dru Tischer and wife Kristi of Shawnee; Matt Tischer and wife Rachel, of Eugene, Oregon; and daughter Yvonne Harmon of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Tischer; sister Louise McGlasson, and sister Rose Vinson.

Bill was born on Dec. 29, 1929, in Harjo, Oklahoma, to parents Elma and Arno Tischer. He worked on multiple farms and drove dump trucks before being drafted into the Army in April 1951. He proudly served during the Korean War as a mechanic on heavy equipment. Bill then moved on the oil field in 1953, until he accepted a position at Tinker Air Force Base in 1954, where he worked for more than 25 years retiring as an Aircraft Engine Foreman.

Bill was a great family man who coached little league baseball teams, loved to hunt and fish, while teaching others his tricks, except those secret fishing holes.

His family and friends will always remember him who loved OU football, Thunder basketball and as a great fisherman who held many a fish fry and was mostly “Gone Fishing” during his time living at Lake Texoma, prior to a short stay at the OK Veterans Center in Sulphur.

Dad decided several years ago to donate his body for research to the University of Oklahoma Health Science Willed Body Program. The family would like to thank you for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers. A private family service will be held at a future date.
