There's an Aero Skills national sheet metal contest going on this weekend at the National Top Gun event held in Tucson, Arizona, and a local Gordon Cooper Technology Center (GCTC) student will be among the competitors.

There's an Aero Skills national sheet metal contest going on this weekend at the National Top Gun event held in Tucson, Arizona, and a local Gordon Cooper Technology Center (GCTC) student will be among the competitors.

Recently GCTC students Dylan Koon and Jason Glasgow competed at Wichita, Kansas, in a regional sheet metal competition.

Glasgow placed first in an aircraft structures exhibition overall and third in the top gun event.

Koon Placed first overall in the top gun event and third in the aircraft structures exhibition.

“These young men won cash prizes totaling more than $4,000 combined,” GCTC Aviation Maintenance Instructor Robert Henson said, “competing with folks from five other states.”

Henson said Koon will be competing this weekend with a shot at $20,000 in cash for first place.
