Prague Community Hospital serves rural residents in and around the city of Prague, a small town with a population of about 2,400, which is settled at the intersection of SH 99 and US 62.

For a little community, news of its local hospital failing to pay its staff last week spurred concern by many.

Though multiple inquiries were made by the News-Star about what happened, calls were not returned as of press time.

But it seems the situation has since been resolved — at least in the short-term.

On Friday, Prague Mayor Cliff Bryant's Facebook Page read, “Payroll was deposited for the hospital employees. I am so happy for the Prague employees!” he said. “It’s a step; we will take any baby steps we can get. Thank the lord above. Praguestrong! It’s a start!”

Bryant had put a citywide call out for prayer Thursday, asking for wisdom for the businesses, families and city officials.

“I ask that every penny owed to our businesses and families be paid,” his post stated.

Owner Health Acquisition Company LLC, based in West Virginia, owns Prague Community Hospital, Drumright Regional Medical Center, Fairfax Community Hospital and Haskell County Community Hospital.

Repeated attempts to reach administration at the hospital have been unsuccessful.

The Prague City Council plans to meet Tuesday to discuss the situation and determine how to move forward.
