DUNCAN – Shawnee started off hot and never looked back, beating Santa Fe South 60-14 Thursday morning at the 2018 Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament.
“We were able to get out on them quick, which allowed us the opportunity to work on our offensive execution,” Coach Wendi Wells said. “It also gave our young kids an opportunity to get some quality playing time.”
The Lady Wolves led 16-3 after the first quarter. Emily Hudson had five points in the frame.
Much like the first, Shawnee dominated in the second quarter, outscoring SFS 17-6 in the second quarter.
Shawnee's post players, Aubrie Megehee and Ashley Kasterke dominated in the second quarter. Megehee scored six points in the quarter and Kasterke scored all four of her points in that stretch.
At halftime Shawnee held a 33-6 lead at halftime.
The Lady Wolves came out of the locker room and dominated the third quarter, outscoring SFS 22-2. Megehee led Shawnee with seven points in the third quarter. Emily Hudson added six points in the quarter.
Megehee scored a game-high 17 points.
Emily Hudson and Lauren Fields each scored 11 points in the win.
Class 6A No. 5 Shawnee (8-0) will face Heritage Hall in the semifinal round Friday at 4 p.m.
