Both Shawnee basketball teams rise in rankings. Wolves wrestlers also ranked this week.

After running roughshod over the competition at the Duncan Holiday Classic, the Shawnee Lady Wolves improved to No. 4 in Class 6A. They 10-0 Lady Wolves even received one first-place vote. Edmond Santa Fe suffered their second loss to make room for Shawnee to climb another spot in the rankings.

The Wolves also climbed one spot from No. 20 to No. 19. A close loss to Ada on the road didn’t cost the Wolves after a big win over Ponca City at home.

Shawnee gets back in action Friday when they travel to Guthrie.

Both Dale squads remain atop the 2A rankings. After a long break, the Lady Pirates get back into action Friday at No. 8 Latta. Dale beat the Lady Panthers by 16 earlier this season. The Pirates won 60-21 in their first matchup.

Seminole remained the No. 15 team in 4A despite a road win at Ada before the break.

The Chieftains host Stroud Friday to get the second semester underway.

A close loss to Okemah cost the Lady Red Devils who dropped to No. 11 in 3A. Prague, now 5-2 on the year, is hosting McLoud Friday in a local rivalry to get back into action. They also head to Chandler on Saturday and Holdenville on Tuesday.

In the wrestling rankings, Shawnee improved to No. 14 in the dual rankings. They still aren’t ranked in the tournament rankings even though they are enjoying good results.

Shawnee is the only local wrestling team that is ranked this week.
