SHAWNEE – The Lady Bison’s return to Great American Conference play wasn’t successful.

Oklahoma Baptist University lost 86-62 Thursday evening.

Henderson State jumped out to a 19-13 lead after the first quarter.

Autumn Avina had an impressive first half, keeping the Lady Bison within striking distance. In the first

half she tallied 12 points, six steals, three rebounds and three assists.

Henderson’s three-point shooting gave them a 38-30 advantage at the break. Henderson State’s Hailey

Estes and Blu Jones knocked down two treys apiece in the first half.

OBU went 5 for 10 at the charity stripe. Henderson State did not attempt a free-throw in the first half.

They did not attempt a shot from the line until the 7:35 mark of the third quarter.

The game was within reach until Henderson State pulled away in the fourth quarter. OBU was outscored

29-16 in the final frame.

Victoria Blankenship led all scorers with 22 points. She finished with a double-double, adding 10

rebounds.

Avina was the other Lady Bison in double figures with 20 points. She added seven steals, five assists and

three rebounds.

Katy Custer returned to action. In 20 minutes, she scored four points and grabbed four rebounds.

Henderson State made 8 three-pointers, compared to three for OBU.

The Lady Bison (5-6, 1-4) return to action Saturday with a home game against Ouachita Baptist

University. Game time is 1 p.m.
