Visit Shawnee is on the hunt for new and exciting images of Shawnee, and the surrounding area.  Hosting their second photo contest, Visit Shawnee is calling all photographers to submit their images from January 28 through February 8.  With several cash prizes available for the best and most popular photos taken, the contest will serve to provide Visit Shawnee with resources for promoting tourism in the area, while offering a chance at friendly competition between enthusiasts in the area.  Photos must be taken January 1, 2017 or later.

Contest Dates: January 28-February 8th

Fan Voting on Facebook: Tuesday, Feb 12-19th

Winners announced: Feb. 22

1st Place winner: $750

2nd Place winner: $500

3rd Place winner: $100

Life in Shawnee will be awarded $250

Fan Favorite will be awarded $100

Photos must be taken in Shawnee, OK, Pottawatomie County, or the cities of: Prague, Meeker, Seminole, or Harrah. All photos taken since January 2017 are eligible for entry. There are other factors for eligibility, which you can read on their website at

To give an example of one of past winners, Jim Heath won the grand prize for his striking photo of a sunset over the Shawnee Twin Lakes, with a water bird perched gracefully upon the silhouette of a boardwalk. Jim was awarded the $750 cash prize for his photo, and we used it as a highlight both for the Twin Lakes, and for our sunset days on social media.
