MELBOURNE, Florida – Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's swimming teams dominated their matchup with Florida Tech winning seven of the eight events in a dual competition Saturday in Florida.
The meet was part of the culmination of a training trip that OBU completed in preparations for the spring semester schedule. The Bison return home where they will next be in action January 19 against Ouachita Baptist.
Newcomers Robinson Molina and Gabriel Knaut swam well in their first meet, according to OBU Coach Dr. Samuel Freas.
Molina swam on the men's winning relay teams in both the 200-yard medley and the 400-yard mixed backstroke relay. Molina teamed with Davion Conley, Felipe Zapata and Ryan Walker in the 200-yard medley and turned in a time of 1:31.59, nearly four seconds faster than Florida Tech's top team.
In the 400-yard backstroke relay Molina joined William Newman, Maddie Carson and Marizel Van Jaarsveld to win the event with a time of 3:40.21, 12 seconds better than their hosts.
Knaut joined teammates Alexander Leff, Jacob Usry, and Ivan Irun with an impressive showing in the men's 200-yard medley relay. The group finished with a time of just over 1:40.
