EARLSBORO – Asher played a much better game in the second half of their 62-46 win over Sasakwa in the opening round of the Jim Walling Classic Thursday afternoon.

The Indians trailed 18-13 after the first quarter.

Even though Asher received two first-half technicals, they trailed Sasakwa 32-31 at halftime. Patch Hamilton led the Indians with 14 points in the first half.

Gaylen Leetka led Saskwa with 14 points. He knocked down 2 three-pointers in the first half.

The Indians picked up the pace in the third quarter and took a 51-42 lead into the final quarter of play. Mike McDonald led Asher with eight points in the quarter. He knocked down two treys in the third frame.

Hamilton led Asher with 20 points.

McDonald scored all of his 15 points in the second half.

Sasakwa's Leetka scored 21 points in the loss.

Asher will face Varnum in the semifinals Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Varnum beat Dibble 63-47 in opening round action. Noah Rinken led all scorers with 15 points.
