James (Jim) William Anderson, 80, of Shawnee, died Sunday in Shawnee.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at the Masonic Lodge in Shawnee.

Born Sept. 29, 1938, he was the son of Charles Emmett and Lavinia Barnes Anderson.

A U.S. Army veteran, he also worked in law enforcement and the restaurant business.

Anderson was a Mason and a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Veterans Organization. While living in California, he was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, serving as state president for three years. Anderson was very proud of his Native American heritage and his membership in the CPN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sons Billy and Kevin Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna, of Shawnee; a son, Scott Anderson, and a daughter, Jennifer Anderson, both of California; three brothers, Don and wife Kay Anderson, of Shawnee, Charles and wife Junea Anderson and Orville and wife Linda Anderson, all of California; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.
