STROUD — Caya Wright chalked up 20 points Monday as Prague shellacked Holdenville 55-29 in opening-round action of the 66 Conference Tournament.
Emma Rich added eight points and Chloe McClendon finished with seven as Prague improved to 12-4.
Prague led just 10-7 after one quarter but went on a 17-6 spurt in the second quarter for a 27-13 advantage. The Lady Red Devils erased all doubts by blitzing Holdenville 16-5 in the third quarter.
Wright hit all eight of her free throws as Prague went 10 of 13. Holdenville was 2 of 5.
“We got off to a slow start but in the second and third quarters we forced a lot of turnovers with our press and got some transition baskets,” Prague coach Benny Burnett said. “We played quite a few people in the fourth quarter.”
Prague will see further 66 Tournament action Friday at 6:40 versus McLoud.
Prague defeated McLoud 47-35 Saturday in a makeup game. Jaycee Johnson of Prague knocked down two 3-point field goals and Taylor Hodges posted one trey.
Prague jumped out in front 13-5 after one quarter and never lost the lead.
Prague’s boys will oppose Okemah at 5:20 Thursday at Stroud. The Red Devils blitzed Meeker 80-41 Monday night.
