CASHION —Dale coach Eric Smith didn’t really know what to say Thursday after his opening-round game of the Cashion County Line Tournament.
The top-ranked Lady Pirates emptied their bench (15 players) during an 89-7 mauling of SeeWorth.
SeeWorth had just one player score — two treys and one free throw. The losers trailed 52-1 at the half. Smith couldn’t suit up his freshmen because of a tourney rule.
Eleven Lady Pirates scored, led by Emmie Idleman with 15. Lindy Nowakowski and Lacey Savage harvested 12 apiece while Delanie Manning finished with nine, including two 3-pointers.
Idleman also notched two 3-pointers.
Dale, 17-1, will test Perry at 7 tonight in the semifinals. Perry hit a 2-point shot at the final buzzer to defeat Cashion.
The Pirates, in one of the first games of the day, led SeeWorth just 36-29 at halftime but broke it open with a 29-11 third-quarter blitz. The Pirates went on to forge a 78-49 win.
Trae Thompson of Dale posted eight of his team-high 16 points in the third quarter. Logan Woodruff, who finished with 15 points, had nine in the third quarter. Dale’s other double-figure scorer, Brandy Johnson, had seven of his 12 points right after halftime.
Dale coach Jeff Edmonson employed 16 players and 12 scored.
Dallon Forsythe knocked down two 3-pinters for the Pirates (14-4).
Ranked third in 2A and possessor of a 14-4 record, Dale advances to tonight’s 8:20 semifinals against Thursday’s Oklahoma Christian-Cashion victor. Dale hasn’t played either team this season.
“We came out after halftime with good defensive intensity and forced some turnovers,” Edmonson said.
