ALTUS — Dallas HSSA, a homeschool squad, outscored Tecumseh 16-2 in the first quarter en route to a 54-27 opening-round win Thursday at the Altus Tournament Thursday

“We didn’t look like we were ready to play,” Tecumseh coach Eldon Gentry said. “We gave them some wide-open shots.”

Dallas HSSA went 13 of 19 from the free-throw line for 68.4 percent. The victors drained seven 3-point field goals.

Tecumseh was 7 of 12 from the line for 58.6 percent.

Addison Day was Tecumseh’s top scorer with nine. Channing Scallorn and Marissa Gouge posted one 3-pointer apiece.

Tecumseh, which saw its four-game winning streak snapped, is 6-11.

Gentry’s troops will play at 10 a.m. today versus the loser of Thursday’s Altus-Amarillo Flames game. The Flames are also a homeschool entry.
