Shawnee police continue to investigate a deadly crash that claimed the life of two Tecumseh teenagers over the weekend, with more information still awaited from police on the condition of the third person involved in that accident.
Shawnee Police Cpl. Vivian Lozano-Stafford said the two-vehicle crash occurred about 5:11 p.m. Saturday on 45th Street at Aydelotte Street.
Lozano-Stafford, who confirmed one fatality from the crash on Saturday evening, reported Monday that the state medical examiner confirmed two deaths from that accident.
She identified the decedents as Logan Deardorff, 18, and a teenage juvenile passenger whose name was not released by police. An obituary names the teenager as Shelby D. Johnson, 17.
Both were occupants of a Ford Mustang, she said.
The other vehicle involved the crash was a Honda Accord. The name of the driver of that Honda was still not yet being released by police Monday, Lozano-Stafford said, adding that person's updated medical condition was unknown.
The cause of what happened in the accident remains under investigation by Shawnee police, so Lozano-Stafford said she had no other details other than saying both vehicles were eastbound on 45th Street at the time of the crash.
The Tecumseh community held a vigil Monday evening to remember the two Tecumseh High School students.
Watch for updates.
