A police call early Tuesday morning turned into a barricaded suspect situation but ended without incident about an hour later, Shawnee police reported.

Shawnee Police Cpl. Vivian Lozano-Stafford said it was about 5:27 a.m. when officers responded to the 900 block of north Patchin for a domestic call.

An adult male suspect was reported to have been armed, she said, and when officers arrived, a

female was able to exit the residence safely and without injuries.

"Officers started negotiating with the male and about an hour later they were able to take him into custody without incident," she said.

The male was transported from the scene for mental evaluation, Lozano-Stafford reported.
