SHAWNEE – Both Shawnee teams cruised to victory Tuesday. The Class 6A No. 2 Lady Wolves beat up on Guthrie 70-42 and the boys won 69-44.
The Lady Wolves were without starting guard Lauren Fields and reserve guard Tatum Sparks so Ashley Kasterke stepped into the starting lineup and tied the team-lead in scoring with 17 points. Aubrie Megehee also scored 17 in the victory.
At halftime, Shawnee led 38-19.
Makyra Tramble filled the box score with 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Emily Hudson was the fourth Shawnee player in double figures with 10.
Saidey Smith scored two points, but hauled in seven rebounds and dished out six assists.
In the boys' game, Jaylon Orange put a layup through the goal as time expired in the first quarter to give Shawnee a 13-11 lead.
The Wolves extended its lead to 29-21 at intermission.
DeAndre Love scored 12 points in the first half to lead all scorers through two quarters.
The Wolves were in rare form, making 23 of 31 at the charity stripe.
Jayon Orange finished second on the team in scoring with nine points. The freshman also added four rebounds and three steals.
Love finished with 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Larry Simpson and Burky Curtis were honored at halftime of the boy's game as new members of the Shawnee Basketball Hall of Fame.
Both Shawnee squads will travel to Western Heights Friday.
