McLOUD – The Lady Redskins were unsuccessful in their attempt at beating Harrah, losing 45-35 Friday evening.
McLoud trailed 7-4 after the first quarter.
At halftime, the Lady Redskins trailed 18-14. All but four of McLoud’s first-half points came at the charity stripe. Jessie Wooten led McLoud with three points in the first half.
McLoud cut the lead to one point, making it an 18-17 Harrah lead on a Lexie Boyer layup. Harrah quickly stretched their lead back out and by the end of the third quarter the Lady Redskins trailed 32-21.
The Lady Redskins were in the bonus the entire fourth quarter but were unable to cut into the deficit.
Cheyenne Banks led McLoud with 11 points. Boyer added seven points in defeat.
The McLoud boys were a little more successful, keeping the game close much of the way but fell just short, losing 43-39.
At halftime, McLoud trailed Harrah 21-16.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Redskins cut the lead to Harrah lead to 36-34. The next trip up the floor, Tristan Crook knocked down a trey to give McLoud a 37-36 advantage with 2:43 remaining in the contest.
A few possessions later, McLoud's Brandon Hadl scored on an and-one opportunity to make it a two-point game with 10.9 seconds remaining. His free throw attempt was long and the Panthers rebounded and put the game on ice with two free throws.
Brandon Vinson led the Redskins with 21 points. The senior converted 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
Both McLoud squads will return to action Feb. 5 when they host Tecumseh.
