Thirteen Shawnee, Oklahoma, residents received degrees during Oklahoma Baptist University’s Winter Commencement Friday, Dec. 14, in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on the OBU campus in Shawnee. The University conferred degrees upon 108 graduates during the ceremony.

Graduates, with academic majors and scholastic predicates, include Erika Carroll, marketing, summa cum laude; Rubin Cooper, marketing; Jake Nelson, digital media arts; Krisha Ticer, instrumental music education; Rachel Floyd, family and community service: family life track, summa cum laude; Julien Goyetche, sports recreation management; Sarah Haines, camp administration; Holly Hawkins, family and community service: family life track; Raven Hawkins, psychology pre-counseling; David Lambert, sports and recreation management; Madison Lynn, family and community service: family life track, magna cum laude; Clinton Joseph Cannon, biology and MacKenzie Kay Pruitt, secondary education, magna cum laude.

Students graduate summa cum laude for maintaining at least a 3.95 grade point average. Students who maintain at least a 3.70 GPA are designated magna cum laude. Students who maintain at least a 3.40 GPA are designated cum laude. Those who complete the requirements of the University’s Honors program graduate “with honors.”

Dr. Blake Gideon, senior pastor of First Baptist Church Edmond, delivered the commencement address. The program also included induction of the graduates into the OBU Alumni Association. OBU President David W. Whitlock presented a charge to the graduates.
