Robert Earl Ervin “Rob” of Wagoner transitioned peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 21 2019, in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
Rob was born March 17, 1955, to Richard Henry and Gertrude “P” Ervin in Shawnee. He attended Macomb public schools and graduated with the Class of 1973.
Robert Ervin and Velma Jean Rivers (Carr) were united in holy matrimony in Shawnee. This union was blessed with one son, Robert Donatrion Ervin.
Rob was employed at Oklahoma Natural Gas for seven years, rebuilding meters. At a young age he was taught by his grandfather how to be a skilled concrete finisher. He later moved to Florida for two years, using his skill his grandfather had taught him and doing many side jobs outside his normal employment. Rob ended his career at Georgia Pacific Papers, serving 18 years before retiring in 2006.
Rob was smart, funny, loving, and generous. His smile was contagious to anyone that came in contact with him, and would brighten up any bad day. He always had a prank ready to make you laugh, and we can’t forget his favorite quote “Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bakey.” Robert Earl love meeting people and made many friends over the years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his animals. He had a passion for raising show pigs and spent most of his years volunteering at Porter and Wagoner FFA and 4H Club. In his spare time, he loved to watch a good western. Rob loved spending time with his family and cherished every moment with his grandson, Isaac.
He was preceded in death by his father; Richard Henry Ervin, grandmother; Essie Mae Bailey, grandparents; Lovie Louise and Aaron Clarence “AC” Phillips, two brothers; Richard Henry Ervin Jr. “Sonny” and Frank Eric Ervin, and close friend; Ellen Powell.
