Lincoln County Republican Party held its biennial county convention in the courthouse lobby in Chandler Thursday evening, February 21.

In addition to holding its monthly business meeting, the party convened its convention, the main purpose of which was to elect officers to serve for the next two-year period.

The following persons were elected to lead the party organization:

Steve Buoy, Meeker, chairman; Christian Ford, west of Kendrick, vice-chairman; Elijah Ford, west of Kendrick, and Jim Marah, Meeker, state committee members; and Phillip Cochran, west of Tryon, and Jon Fuqua, Chandler, district committee members. Marak was re-elected to the state committee and Fuqua previously was on the state committee. Don Sporleder is the past chairman.

Alicia Wagnon, Stroud, will continue to serve as secretary, and Paula Fuqua, Chandler, will continue as treasurer.

Other outgoing officers in addition to Sporleder, who conducted the convention, are Bob Coates, rural Cushing, vice-chairman, Linda and Pat Anderson, Prague, district committee members.

The group also selected delegates to the state convention which will be held April 6 at First Baptist Church in Moore. The county is allotted 22 delegates to the state convention.

Several also signed up to serve on the state platform, rules and credentials committees. Several topics for possible resolutions were discussed.

Sporleder announced that the state committee will meet April 5 at First Baptist Church in Moore.

Next county GOP business meeting will be Thursday evening, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the courthouse lobby.
