McLOUD — Jaxton Pennington and Damien Dye combined for a five-hitter Friday, igniting McLoud to a 9-5 triumph over Tecumseh.

Pennington, who worked the first five innings, collected the win after allowing three hits and one run. He fanned six and walked three.

Dye, in two innings of relief, permitted four runs on two hits and two walks. He fanned two.

Duke Crossley spearheaded McLoud’s 10-hit attack with a home run, double, two runs batted in and two runs.

Wesley Olds chalked up three singles for McLoud. Teammates Koalton Keller and Dye had two hits each with Keller doubling.

Tecumseh committed five errors, leading to five unearned runs.

Peyton Cooper of Tecumseh clubbed a grandslam home run in the seventh inning. Savage Gage Boatman doubled.

Tecumseh, 1-1, will launch its home season at 1 p.m. Saturday against Vian. The Savages will go to Seminole Monday for a 4:30 doubleheader, then trek to Capital Hill Tuesday for a 4:30 single game.

McLoud, 2-1, will travel to Jones Tuesday.
