Shawnee had three runner-ups in the State Powerlifting competition this weekend and that propelled the Wolves to a 2nd place finish as a team in 6A.

Tre Shaw, Elijah Powis and Sergio Garcia all came in second in their weight classes for the Wolves.

Shaw totaled 1,255 pounds in the 168 pound division on a 430-pound squat, 275-pound bench and 550-pound deadlift. He missed first place by only 5 pounds total.

Powis totaled 1,300 pounds in the 181 pound class. He squatted 450, benched 300 and deadlifted 550. He was only 20 pounds behind the overall winner.

Garcia totaled 1,410 pounds in the heavyweight class. He squatted 520, benched 330 and deadlifted 560. He was 130 oounds away from the winner.

Bethel placed third in 3A thanks to Matthew Melter winning the 220-pound division.  Melter totaled 1,350 with 490 on the squat, a 310-pound bench and 550 in the deadlift. He was 60 pounds ahead of his closest competitor from Broken Bow. Bethel also got points from Gabel Ledbetter and Tanner Snelgrooes. Ledbetter took fifth in the 157-pound division. Snelgrooes tied for eighth in the 132-pound division. 

McLoud was tied for 7th as a team on the strength of Carson McCann's individual state title at 123 pounds. He totaled 910 pounds with 360 on the squat, 160 on the bench and a 390-pound deadlift. He scored all 24 of McLoud's team points.

Brody Peters of Tecumseh took 9th in the 123-pound division for the Savages. Micha Boyce also scored for Tecumseh by placing 10th in the 168-pound division.
