EDMOND – The Bethel Wildcats earned their first three-game win streak of the season with an 8-5 victory over Bridge Creek at the University of Central Oklahoma Thursday.
Bridge Creek took an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Bethel answered back when Terrell Dodson reached on an error and Cameron Egger scored, leaving Bethel at a 2-1 disadvantage.
Bethel starting pitcher Jaylon Gordon struggled on the mound. He lasted 1 1/3 innings before Brendan Carlile came on in relief. Carlile pitched 5 2/3 innings and struck out two in the winning effort
The Wildcats took the lead in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a five-run rally.
John Gordon and Dodson tied for the team lead with two hits apiece. Both players added two RBIs
In the second game of the day, Bethel beat up on Little Axe 8-2 to make if four in a row.
Jaylon Gordon redeemed himself in the second game of the day. The leadoff batter went 3 for 5 at the plate, drove in three runs and scored three times.
As a team the Wildcats stole eight bases. Seth Jackson led the team with two swipes.
Carlile earned his second victory of the day, pitching five innings.
Bethel (7-6) will host Tecumseh March 25. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
