The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Seminole man died Wednesday afternoon and a Shawnee man was injured in a head-on collision on US 270 at SH 59, just west of Wewoka in Seminole County.
Benjamin Dunn, 67, Seminole, died at the scene, the patrol said.
Dunn was driving a 2009 Chrysler 300 and was eastbound on US 270 when his vehicle went left of center and struck head-on a 2017 Nissan van driven by John Senn, 34, Shawnee, the OHP report shows.
Senn was transported by Medi Flight helicopter ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, the OHP said, where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal and external injuries, as well as arm and leg injuries.
Troopers reported that Dunn was pinned and extricated by the Wewoka Fire Department using the Hurst Rescue Tool.
Dunn's condition at the time of the accident is listed as unknown and under investigation, the report shows, and cause of the collision is listed as improper lane use.
Troopers said seat belts were in use in both vehicles.
