Track teams across the area are getting ready for regionals. Several squads were in action last week and Shawnee will participate in the OBU Meet Tuesday.

Seminole’s boys won the Cushing meet April 4 and the Lady Chieftains took second. Tecumseh’s boys won their home meet April 2 and the Lady Savages took second. Bethel’s boys took ninth at the Rock Creek meet in Sulphur April 5.

The Chieftains won the 4x800 relay, were second in the 4x200 relay and the 4x400 relay, and took second to Millwood in the 4x100 relay. Richard Bolt won the 3200-meter run as Seminole took the top three places and five of the top six. Bolt also won the 1600 meter run with Seminole taking three of the top four spots.

Michael Tiger won the 800-meter dash with Tanner Hoskinson taking third. Hoskinson also took third in the 3200. Tiger also took second in the 400-meter.

Cade Hammond took second in the 100-meter dash and he won the 200-meter dash. Saybion Battles and Justin Hamilton took second and third in the high jump event. Battles cleared 6’0” and Hamilton crossed 5’10”.

Ryan Long from Earlsboro took second in the long jump and Cepado Wilkins and Hamilton took third and fourth.

Annabell Hallmark took third in the 800-meter run and second in the 1600. Aly Lauderdale won the 200-meter dash and took third in the 400.

Kaitlyn Mathews took second in the high jump and Aubree Powell took fourth.

The Chieftains will participate in the conference meet in Okemah Tuesday.

In the 28th annual Tecumseh Track Meet, Tecumseh’s boys won the 4x800 relay, 4x400 relay and the 4x200 relay.

Anthony O’Guinn took second in the 110-meter hurdles and his teammate Graham Dickson took third. They claimed the same places in the 300-meter hurdles.

Clayton Rackley and Jaxon Day swept the top two spots in the boys 800-meter run and Tecumseh junior varsity runner Kulson Yates came in third in the race.

Raymond Thomas won the 400-meter dash for the Savages and Gavyn Rogers took 4th. Thomas also ran away with the 200-meter dash.

Anthony Billy won the long Jump for Tecumseh by five inches. Alex Schovanec won the discus for the Savages with a throw more than three feet beyond his nearest competitor. He also took second in the shot put.

Jayce Kennedy, Jacob Cash and Jeff Hand took second, third and fourth in the pole vault.

On the girls’ side, Kayla McGruder won the 800-meter run by 10 seconds over teammate Jacey Cox. Madison Day came in fifth for the Lady Savages. McGruder also won the 400-meter with teammate Cierra Garcia just one second behind and Madison Day coming in fourth. McGruder won her third event as she breezed to a win by more than 33 seconds in the 1600-meter race. Cox came in third in this event for the Lady Savages.

Garcia also won the long jump by three inches and took second in the pole vault.

The Lady Savages took places 3-6 in the discus event. Nikki Pearcy, Rakayla Wallace, Kylee Akehurst and Emily Hall all placed. Hall won the shot put and Wallace took third.

Tecumseh also had a lot of success at the Greg Byrum Track Meet in Norman Saturday.

The boys 4x800 relay took third despite being the smallest school in the field. The 4x400 relay team captured second place and the 4x200 relay also brought home third place.

Jacey Cox took sixth in the girls 800 meter run and Clayton Rackley came in fourth in the 400 meter dash.

Emily Hall was dominant in the shot put for the Lady Savages. Her best throw was five inches longer than her competitors from Ardmore, Norman, Southmoore and McAlester. Schovanec came in fifth in the boys shot put. In the boys discus, Schovanec took second and Hall came in fifth on the girls side.

Garcia took fifth in the girls long jump and sixth in the pole vault.

Bethel had success at the Rock Creek Invitational in Sulphur.

Garrett Washburn came in fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.

Jesse Tucker also placed fourth in the long jump only about one foot behind the winner.
