The Shawnee News Star received a press release from the Shawnee Police Department Public Information Officer, Vivian Lozano regarding a student taken into custody after making shooting threats.
On 04/10/19 at approximately 10:00 am, the Shawnee High School Resource Officer contacted a juvenile male student in reference to threats.
Shawnee High School Resource Officer was contacted by a high school principal this morning.
The principal received an email yesterday at about 3:58 p.m. from a teacher advising that a student was sent to the office for disrupting the class.
The teacher stated that on the way out of the room the student said, “I am going to shoot this school.” The school resource officer made contact with the student today.
The student said he was talking about the “shoot song,” and said, “I’m fixing to shoot.” The juvenile was taken into custody for threats and released with a promise to appear with Juvenile Services.
The safety of the students and staff is our top priority, and any comments referring to shootings will be taken very seriously.
