CHECOTAH - Even with one of their runners who usually scores points for the team out with a slight injury, the Seminole Chieftains took second at a track meet Friday behind host Checotah. Sprinter Cade Hammond was out with a minor leg injury but the Chieftains still racked up the medals.
Saybion Battles led the way for the Chieftains, winning the high jump clearing 6 feet.
Richard Bolt medaled in both the 1600m and 3200m runs. He took second in the 3200m and third in the 1600m.
The Chieftains also had two medal in the 110m hurdles. Tanner Grant placed second and Justin Hamilton came in sixth. Grant also took fourth in the 300m hurdles.
Tanner Hoskinson placed sixth in the 800m. In other field events, Deyton Jackson took third in the discus with a 124-foot throw that was only 1.5 feet behind the winner. In the long jump, three Chieftains medaled. Jaxon Bond took third. Cepado Wilkins came in fourth and Hamilton was fifth. All three jumps were within two inches of each other.
Seminole also medaled in the 4x100m relay (second), 4x800m relay (third), and the 4x200m relay (fourth).
For the Lady Chieftains, Aly Lauderdale medaled twice. She took second in the 400m dash and fourth in the 200m. Annabell Hallmark placed fifth in the 1600m run. Cienna Works took fifth in the 3200m run the 4x800m relay team placed second.
Brittney Parks cleared seven feet to take fourth in the pole vault and Destiny Trujillo took sixth.
