PURCELL – The Bethel Wildcats jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after the first inning and never looked back.

Bethel ended up winning 6-1 when it was all said and done. The Wildcats added one run in the second and one in the third.

Gunner Smith led the club going 3 for 4 with two runs batted in and one run scored.

Jaylon Gordon and Carter Monday finished with a multi-hit game as both went 2 for 3. Both players drove in one run.

Cameron Egger, Terrell Dodson, Matt Beshears and Jake Williams added one hit apiece.

Bethel captured the district consolation title with a 10-0 shutout of Bridge Creek.

Seth Jackson was perfect at the plate, going 3 for 3 with three runs scored. One of his hits went for extra bases.

Terrell Dodson hit a triple and Williams hit the team's second double in game two.

Gordon pitched in relief and earned the win. He fanned three in 2 2/3 innings.

Bethel (12-14) travels to Konowa Monday. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats host Senior Night against Wewoka Tuesday.
