DALE — Dale’s Pirates warmed up for Class 2A district play with a 16-2 flogging of McGuinness Thursday.

The Pirates, 17-8, scored in all five innings in the run-rule contest.

Dale accumulated 14 hits to go along with three walks and three McGuinness errors.

Karson Hunt was the offensive ringleader with two home runs, including a grandslam in the second inning. Jared Rogers hit a solo roundtripper as part of the six-run second.

Leadoff hitter Ike Shirey went 3 of 4 with a double and two singles. Connor Kuykendall added a single and double.

Dale starter Jaxon Wright started and went just 1/3 of an inning before Bryce Crawford came on. Crawford, in 3 2/3 innings, didn’t allow a run and gave up two hits. He struck out three and walked three.

Tanner Collins, who pitched the final inning, gave up one hit, fanned two and walked one.

Dale will entertain Okemah for a 2 p.m. district tourney doubleheader Friday.
