Shawnee resident Thelma Viola Watson, 77, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 16, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Charlie Clem officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.

Thelma was born Feb. 16, 1942, in Lancing, Tennessee, to Cecil Hawn and Lennis (Potter) Hawn.

She graduated from high school in Wartburg, Tennessee.

On Dec. 8, 1961, she married Thomas Lee Watson.

She spent most of her life being a housewife and homemaker. Thelma was a member of Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was very active in Sunday school and Bible study. She enjoyed reading and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Rose and Katherine, and one brother: Cletus.

Survivors include three children: Annette Wiles and husband John of Shawnee, Anita Page of Oklahoma City, and Mike Watson and wife Kathy of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters; six brothers; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
