A Shawnee man died over the weekend after being involved in a motorcycle accident in Lincoln County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the crash occurred about 3:19 p.m. Saturday on SH 18, just north of County Road 960, which is three miles west of Sparks.
Thomas Lee Campbell, 72, Shawnee, was riding the motorcycle southbound on SH 18 when the cycle departed the roadway to the right for unknown reasons, the OHP said. The motorcycle overturned two times and ejected the driver, the patrol said.
Campbell suffered significant head trauma, the OHP reported, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner,
Cause of the accident was listed as unsafe speed for rain or wet roadway, troopers noted, adding it was raining at the time of the accident.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Porter of the Pottawatomie/Lincoln County Detachment of Troop A and he was assisted by Trooper Battershell of the Pottawatomie/Lincoln County Detachment of Troop A, as well as the Office of the Medical Examiner, Chandler EMS, the Chandler Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
