The Tecumseh Public Library thanked multiple supporters of both the library and the Friends of the Tecumseh Library as part of the Pioneer Library System’s recent Board of Trustees meeting in Tecumseh.
Among the local businesses and organizations who have made recent contributions to the Friends group are:
Tecumseh Masonic Lodge No. 69 has donated $1,511.80 through their monthly breakfast fundraising program. Masonic Lodge members also have served as volunteers at many library fundraising events and the group has supported numerous nonprofit organizations in the community for many years.
The library also was the recipient of a generous gift from the Arvest Foundation this year. With the help of Kim Rawls and President Chris Clark of Arvest Bank in Shawnee, the Tecumseh Friends of the Library received a $5,000 grant from the Arvest Foundation.
And the Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative Foundation also contributed $5,000 to the Friends group. The CVEC Foundation has sponsored many library projects and programs over the years.
The Tecumseh Friends of the Library is a 501 (c)(3) organization which promotes public awareness of the library, encourages legislative support, sponsors educational and cultural programs, volunteers for special projects and events, and encourages gifts and bequests to the library.
Also at the meeting, PLS honored five trustees who completed terms of service on the board. They are:
Allyson Horton – Slaughterville
Susan Moffat – Lexington
Jon Myers, Ed.D., Chair – Noble
Charlie Sherman, Treasurer - Purcell
